Our Chapter History

History

The Buffalo Alumnae Chapter was chartered on April 29, 1952 at Park Lane Restaurant in Buffalo, NY. The ceremony was conducted by Kathleen Davison, then-National President of SAI.

A 50th Anniversary Dinner was held on April 26, 2002 at Park Lane Restaurant.

Service Projects

  • Perform recitals at nursing homes

  • Partnership with Buffalo String Works

    • Purchased two student sized violas using a SAI National Outreach Grant

    • Held an Instrument Shower

      • provided strings, music stands, rosin, etc.

  • Support the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra

    • Ushering concerts

    • Servers at Friday Coffee Concerts

    • Assist and demonstrate at Instrument Zoo Days

  • Donate to local and international groups

    • SAI Philanthropies Inc.

    • Buffalo Philarmonic Orchestra Education Program

    • Amherst ABC Bel Canto Choirs
